Yes, I've got this installed on my bug today.

After some road tests I did (around 60km or so), I can felt the unleashed power runs under the wheel. And the usage of petrol is getting well, it helps engine burns the petrol more efficient.

My bug get more 8.5hp in N/A mode, N/A? Is my bug not a turbo bug!? Well, just read the full story then you will know.

Here is the full story about the installation:

A'PEXi Auto timer Installed

Posted by martin on 24 April, 2005 23:46 | Permalink | Engine | Hits (1070)

Ok, here is the short description of this product:
The A'PEX Auto Timer allows a vehicle to idle for a preset amount of time after the ignition key has been removed. This prevents hot oil in the engine from solidifying (called "coking") in the oil lines or the bearings of a turbo charger. Proper cool down is essential for a healthy engine, especially if that engine is subjected to the rigors of racing.

Samco Silicone VAG 1.8T AWP Intake Hose

Posted by martin on 24 April, 2005 23:28 | Permalink | Engine | Hits (944)

In ECS website, it says: "This hose replaces the existing hose and metal turbo intake combination and has a reinforced wall and super smooth internal design to ensure that laminar flow rates are maximised. With the original restrictions removed better flow characteristics are achieved which give noticeable gains in power and torque. You will need to plug the extra port if not needed."

Would like to install this by yourself??? Check this excellent DIY instruction made by Lam in newbeetle.org: http://forums.newbeetle.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45169

Now, there are more and more Samco silicone hoses in the engine room. :)

PS. AWP one fits on my AWU engine without any problem. It just works fine as the stock one. :)

Nothing to do, just using BOV instead the Forge DV

Posted by martin on 19 April, 2005 10:23 | Permalink | Engine | Hits (860)

Yep, just swap the BOV/DV, now, in the Bug, it is Forge Dual Piston Ram Dump Valve. :) This atmospheric diverter valve dumps the charge-air to atmosphere creating the "Whoosh" sound when the throttle is lifted.

PS. If you would like to install this BOV, you got to get a billet plug inserting into the hold which stock DV redirecting the air back to the intake hose.

T.M. Works Ignite REV in Bug!!

Posted by martin on 19 April, 2005 10:23 | Permalink | Engine | Hits (1934)

What is this stuff? It is a new product from a famous Japanese company: T.M. Works and it would improve the efficiency of ignition to save the usage of petrol and increase the horse power of the engine.

It extends the period of iginition from 10us to 18us and would help the engine burns the petrol as best as it can. People who use this all feel that the usage of petrol has be decresed, it would save some money spending on filling your gastank.

Just checking the support list of T.M. Works website, it says this cool stuff supports my bug with AWU engine in. I will just need to get Ignite REV IRW01 and install it as soon as I can. :)

Yes, it is just the lightsaber in the Starwars movie. :) I wait them for a huge long time, eventually I got them from the DHL today.

The blue one is Luke Skywalker's lightsaber from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, and the red one is Darth Vader's (aka, Anakin Skywalker) lightsaber from Star Wars: A New Hope.

I think I should just put them in the trunk of my New Beetle. LOL

New rims, REAL one from Porsche Turbo!!

Posted by martin on 23 March, 2005 18:29 | Permalink | Suspension | Hits (1131)

It is real Porsche product, 7.5Jx18 ET50 (it became ET30 after I instlled H&R 5x130 to 5x100 20mm adaptor with it). I chosed this rim just because the old one I have is with 8.5J width, and (made by MILLE MIGLIA) it is not so comfortable for me while running on non-flat ground with 225/40/18 tire! 8.5J is a little bit too wide fitting with 225/40/18 tire IMO. :( Now, this 7.5J rim works great!
